There were a total of 19 students in the audience, including 8 international students.


This is the last session for this term and we look forward to holding more presentations starting from October.

For the record, a cumulative total of 148 students took part in the LP Meeting for this term. Of these, 98 were Japanese students and 50 international students.

Japanese and Chinese Gift-Giving Etiquette (Series 029)

The topic for the 29th presentation in the series was 'Japanese and Chinese etiquette in gift giving'...

 Twenty students, including five international students attended the session today...

Kaho Kobayashi from the Law Faculty gave a talk in English about the Japanese practices of gift giving...

 Students enjoy their lunch while listening to the speakers...

 The Chinese side of the story was presented by Tou Houi who hails from Beijing Technology University...

There were several questions touching on matters such as why the numbers 4 and 9 were not favored... on why the color red or silver and not black is used for wrappers... and the rationale of the green cap implying infidelity of the wife in China...

The moderator was Fan from China...

Noodles of Malaysia and Japan (Series #28)

Today, Azalia and Sayaa Nishizaki made a presentation on noodles...

Sayaa introduced several varieties of noodles in Japan...

Examples are soba, ramen, udon, and somen...
Her favorite is Tokushima ramen and she recommended us to go to Tokushima to get the real taste of the noodle...

Azalia presented details on three popular noodles in Malaysia...
According to her, a plate of noodles costs about 100 yen, cheap when compared to the prices in Japan...

There were laksa, char koey teow, and mee goreng mamak...
Her favorite is char koey teow and she suggested that Penang is the best place to eat this dish...
There were 23 students today, with 6 of them being international students...

Customs of Japan and Germany... Series #27

The 27th presentation in the series brings us to a talk on Japan-Germany 'Customs'.

Robin Lendel and Martin Schneidereit talked about the Germany side, while Matsushima Yoshika gave a glimpse of how things are in Japan.

There was a total of 25 people in the audience, with 7 being international students.

Next presentation shall be on 'Noodles' of Japan and Malaysia...  the date is 4th June, Monday... 12:00 noon at the International Exchange Space...

Japanese food guide for foreigners, etc... (Series #26)

Today, we start off with a new 'experiment', with two speakers presenting on the same topic... 

 

 One speaker is an international student, and the other student, a Japanese student...

 Gleb Gagauzov is from Russia and he has been with us for just over a month... 

He is currently polishing up his Japanese language skills before moving on the the Faculty of Economics to continue his studies... 

Chisachi Takezaki is a sophomore at the Faculty of Education. She is the President of ICES (Inter-Cultural Exchange Society) which works closely with KUFSA. 

 

The were 21 participants in the audience today, including five international students. 

 

The presentation focused on the Japanese food and delicacies served in Russia. 

 

There were some rather unusual dishes which drew surprises from the audience.

 

On 'Kagawa University Foreign Student Association' (Series #25)

Today, Wang Shan from the Graduate School of Education, made a presentation on 'Kagawa University Foreign Student Association'... 

She is the President of KUFSA for the year 2012...  she touched on the history of KUFSA, and on the close cooperation and coordination with ICES over the many years...

Wang-san also introduced the committee members, and presented a list of the events planned for the year...

This list of events shall be posted on the net within the next two weeks...

 

The number of participants today was very impressive...

All in all, there were 28 people, of which 16 were international students...

Along with the ICES members (who are Japanese students), there were students from China, Taiwan, Russia, Malaysia, Thailand, Germany, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Korea...

ICES - International... (Series #24)

The year 2012 started off with a presentation on ICES - International...
'ICES' being Inter-Cultural Exchange Society... 
The presenter was Natsumi Kotani, third year student at the Faculty of Economics, and the past president for ICES in 2011...
She talked about how ICES was formed and the activities conducted by ICES throughout the year...
She made a commendable effort in using English to present... 
There were 12 people in the audience, with three being international students...
This was the first time the LP Meeting was held in the 4th Floor of the Joint Research Building...
Future meetings shall be held in this venue...
The next meeting shall be on 23rd April, with Wang-san presenting on KUFSA...
